Well here it is a four Ribbon Review!!! Ha ha ha

Ariana Reynolds is a part-time bartender at the local vampire bar, Wolf's Den. She works for master vampire, shape-shifter and just recently her lover, Ian, who owns the bar, and is also the leader of the local vampire kiss. Ariana's main job description is that of vampire hunter. Ever since her last boyfriend disappeared on a hunt, never returning, she has taken on the responsibility as Reaper. She may be small and not look it, but she is the executioner and scourge of all bad little vampires everywhere. Recently a group of rogue vampires have started on a slaughtering spree involving innocent humans in town. Ariana will find herself working closely with Ian to stop their common enemy.

J. R. Mitchell has written an exciting paranormal romance filled with passion and thrilling action. Readers of Laurell K. Hamilton will find the books delightfully reminiscent of the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. Here is a strong young woman, small in size, which stands up to what seems an impossible threat and kicks some bad guy tail. She usually works alone, but sometimes finds herself partnered by Ian. Together they deal with vampire politics and they work with the police while trying to save the innocent people in their city. Beautifully choreographed fight scenes with plenty of blood and graphic violence brings the action to life. This is story about a woman that truly loves her weapons and knows how to use them.

The new and ever changing relationship that Ariana has with Ian is filled with delightful surprises. Ian sounds like a real hottie with his Native American features and those delightful tattoos that fill some of my newest fantasies. Ariana and Ian seem to be working through the many emotions of their new relationship and at times it is hard to tell if they love or hate each other. Sometimes I think it is a little of both. WOLF'S DEN leaves many questions unanswered that have me believing there is going to be a sequel. I can hardly wait to see how things progress with Ariana and Ian.

Ariana Reynolds isn't only a vampire hunter but also works as a bartender in the popular vampire bar. When Ariana's boyfriend leaves and doesn't come back, she takes over his place as the Vampire Grim Reaper. When vampires come into her town and kills humans for no reason but for the fun of it she is there to kill them. It takes her and the owner of the Wolf's Den, Ian to stop them before they do damage. Ian makes her feel such heat and passion that he becomes her lover after joining up together. Can these two fight against the power of the killers that are out just to kill or have fun?

Ian is the head leader of his people, the Local Kiss. They are the rare shape shifting vampires. All Ian wants is this woman, Ariana, she brings out in him passion that has been dormant in him for so long. Can these two be strong for each other to beat others that are strong and want to just "Have there part of what they think is fun"? Will they be able to conquer the enemy before it is to late?

I want more by this author. She wrote a great world with vampires and shape shifters that drew me like nothing else. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Wolf's Den

When Ariana Reynolds is not tending bar at the local kiss, a vampire clan led by her boss Ian, she is a government bounty hunter extraordinaire. Once in her sights, no rogue vampire is safe. Her personal life is even less organized than the chaos that is her working life.

Ian has been around long enough to know that Ariana is someone that any wise vampire would avoid angering if he wishes to remain one of the ‘undead’. Having successfully held on to his title of leader of his kiss for some time now, he considers himself very wise, which does not mean that he entirely avoids riling Ariana for a bit of entertainment. Nothing gives him more pleasure than to light her fuse and watch her struggle for control.

Ariana’s latest assignment takes her emotions on a rollercoaster ride! She must keep the red haze of anger from blinding her to what needs to be done, no matter how much she wishes it could be different. Past love cannot change her mission, and current love will not be allowed to sidetrack her from this hunt.

Ms Mitchell has written a ripper of a yarn. Plenty of gore for those so inclined, with passionate interactions between the main characters to ease the tension in all the right places. The author’s earthy language in telling this story gives it just enough ‘reality’. Though I cannot imagine this story told in any other voice, my only suggestion is that this first person telling be tweaked so that ‘I’ isn’t used quite so often. Still, I would, without hesitation, recommend this yarn to lovers of vampiric tales.

Wolf's Den

Wolf's Den by J.R Mitchell is not for the faint of heart. If you are easily offended by strong language or your stomach gets queasy at the sight or mention of blood, this book is not for you. If, however, you don’t mind a little blood and guts with your love scenes, then move over Anita Blake, there's a new hunter in town!  The sex is hard, and the loves scenes erotic. There is nothing gentle or cute about Ariana, she hits hard, and sometimes below the belt. I enjoyed her character a lot, but I’ve always thought the Tomboy type made a better vampire hunter anyway. You can’t be a “lady” while driving stakes through hearts or slicing heads off shoulders.  I think that I would have enjoyed the book more had there not been so many questions left unanswered.  Maybe that will be in the sequel that the ending definitely leaves room for.

Wolf's Den

Ariana Reynolds works as a bartender at Wolf’s Den in addition to being a bounty hunter of vampires. Ian is the boss and owner of Wolf’s Den. He has only one rule for his employees: no donating blood to the customers. Wolf’s Den is a vampire bar in addition to acting like a strip joint, as there are private rooms for VIPs. Humans come in to donate blood. Vampires can make sucking blood better than really good sex. Ian’s six feet eight inches tall, black hair, turquoise eyes and he is an Indian. Ariana’s boyfriend Raif left her one day and has never come back. A news broadcast comes on talking about how there has been a rash of deaths lately. Ariana knows that can only mean one thing…there are a gang of rogue vampires on the loose. Ariana is out for blood and ready to kick some vampire ass.

Ariana has such a take no prisoners’ personality. This is a good trait to have being a bounty hunter. Who knew Indian vampires made great lovers? The great thing I loved the most about Ian was his boxer choices. Here he is supposed to be this big tough guy and he is wearing boxers with ducks and frogs on them. Ariana and Ian remind by of Buffy, the vampire slayer and Angel. They are just that amazing together. Wolf’s Den had the adventure, romance and ass-kicking but the only thing I wished that there was more of was Ariana’s sarcastic comments. She was making comments that had me laughing every other word but then when the story really started picking up her humor left. Wolf’s Den still is a good-quality book. There was a unique twist to this vampire book that I have not read in others so far. I enjoyed Wolf’s Den and the characters Ariana and Ian. I will be sure to check out other books by J. R. Mitchell.

Winter Skinny Dip

A winter vacation in Colorado. A ski resort in Copper Mountain. Fresh powder just waiting to be shredded. What more could a girl ask for? Well, for Sara, the attention of a certain sexy mystery guy would be nice. But after six days at the resort and only the occasional glimpse of the sexiest man she’s ever seen, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. Or does it?

After skiing out of bounds and getting herself lost, Sara takes refuge in a nearby cabin and comes face to face with the man of her dreams. A steamy hot tub encounter, a couple of rounds of mind blowing sex, and an intriguing mystery surrounding Chad’s strange daytime disappearances have Sara staying long after it’s time to go.

But will Sarah want to stick around after she finds out the truth? When she discovers her new lover is a vampire, she’s surprised that she’s not running for her life. Is this love she’s beginning to feel for the sexy stranger? Or has she completely lost her mind? And what will she do if Chad doesn’t want to spend his eternity with her?

J. R. Mitchell’s Winter Skinny Dip is a fun interpretation of a very popular story idea. It’s a great take on every fan’s desire to meet their own sexy vampire hunk. I know I’ve had this same type of fantasy and can completely relate to Sara’s need to stick around and find out what’s really going on. I did feel that the author left out a major part of the story as Sara contemplated her decision to stay and find out the truth about Chad. Then when he admits to being a vampire, I wish we would have seen a bit more of a conflicting reaction. As a reader, I would have loved to have been a part of her decision process. But even without it, I was hooked from the very beginning and can’t wait to read other stories written by J.R. Mitchell.
